What We See in Aviation Movies

There is an array of films that hold a plot or scene centered around aviation. Drama, action and everything in between can be conformed to the setting. Some of the more popular flicks have stayed at the top of the charts for decades.

Top Gun

Famous for its intense flying scenes, Top Gun has been a fan favorite for over thirty years. Clever nicknames guised the real lives of Maverick and Goose as they were the charmingly persuasive duo of the movie. Slick comments and a top of the world attitude made joining the Airforce a childhood dream.

Airforce One

This thriller depicts the action-packed importance of security, safety and an all-around heroic tale. A range of pilots, workers and secret service men keep you on the edge of your seats.  Facing danger in the air with the pressure to stay composed is an epic way to create an ego fit for heroes.

Star Wars

A list with frequent fliers would not be complete without Star Wars. An alternative reality is boasted with flying advanced craft. Movies have given Aviators a reputation to live by. Interestingly, the real life of a pilot differs greatly from their onscreen counterparts. One of the main rules of the aviation field involves the psychology of the job description. The ego can become a hindrance if it is too focused on the individual in lieu of their team. Flying a plane is within hazardous parameters that can be prevented when the crew works together. The technical aspects require constant and consistent skilled attention. This can greatly sway one’s confidence leaving them vulnerable to making grave mistakes or errors. Unlike the movies, the odds of a takeover or forbidden romance are not likely on an everyday flight. In fact, the common flight is focused and responsibly maneuvered throughout.

Those in aviation have a calm confidence that is hard to dismiss. The control and talent needed for their position will continue to be a charismatic title. Pilots and staff will continue to cause stars in the eyes of others, however as seasoned professionals they will remain a humble team player.
